Dress Rehearsal for our Cinderella Coach

We have spent over two years designing our Cinderella Coach to our exact specifications and then finding the right carriage builder for the job. Our goal was to keep the coach as elegant and timeless as possible, it had to be scaled to accommodate our trailer for enclosed shipping ( we don’t arrive any event with dirty carriages) and it had to accommodate a variety of horses. With a creamy white powdercoat paint,  gold pin striping, and polished brass accents,  we think it actually turned out above our expectations!  a few snapshots from our first dress rehearsal! We can’t wait to get this carriage infront of a professional photographer!

Bookings are being accepted for 2018/2019 subject to availability please call 772-285-3480

Questions to ask when hiring a Baraat horse service provider.

No South Asian wedding is complete without a Baraat! It’s even more spectacular when you have a beautifully adorned Ghodi (white female horse), especially if traditional vibes are your thing. But you can’t expect just anyone with a horse to show up and provide you with a safe and reliable mount for the Groom! – just like with anything else, do your homework and research the different providers and ask questions.

THE QUESTIONS:

I’m a little afraid of horses. Can I come meet the horse and possibly do a small ride to see if I really want this for my wedding day?

Are your horses adjusted to loud noises and music? This includes a DJ playing loud music or a dholi playing their drum?

How will I get onto the Ghodi (Baraat horse) on the day of the wedding?

A small child might be riding with me on the horse during the Baraat; is that ok?

Will the horse be in a regular saddle or dressed up in a traditional costume as a Ghodi (baraat horse)?

Does  the Baraat horse service provider own the traditional Ghodi costume(s)? If so ask the provider to see current pictures of it.  do you have the option to select which costume you prefer? is this included in the fee?

What will the horse handler(s) wear? and how many handlers will accompany the horse or horses?

How early do you (the Provider) arrive before the event starts?

Have you (the Provider) serviced at my venue before? If not, will you  find out the logistics of the venue beforehand?

Do you (the provider) have a carriage as well if we wanted to use it for the Vidai/doli (bridal send-off)?

How many Indian/South Asian weddings do you do per year? How much experience do you have? Read the companies reviews!

Is your horse reliably safe in the presence of drones? and a dancing crowd? Do you have video?

What is the cost? Is it hourly or a flat fee?

What is included in the cost?

Are there any additional fees?

What if our Baraat starts late?

What happens if I cancel? What happens if you cancel?

Do you own your horses… how many?  costumes? and carriages? or do you subcontract the work out?

Do you have liability insurance? Is there a additional fee for Insurance Certificates if requested by the Venue? by the City/Town? By the Event Planner?

Cinderella at the Sunrise Theatre

Our Cinderella Carriage makes for an amazing prop for the South Florida Dance Company! We are thrilled to provide them with our unique Cinderella carriage once again.  The photos and the production is amazing! and the were so thoughtful to follow up with this review:

“We have been so happy with quality and service of Wind Chase Farm carriages. We have used their Cinderella Carriage 2 years in a row for a production. Both years they were easy to work with. The carriage is beautiful, they took care of the delivery and set up, and they communicate very well! We will use them again for sure!”

The fluff behind the Plume!

Whats all the fluff about? Recently, we have been asked about the reason horses are decorated with plumes, so we dug into some history and here is what we found:

Plumes have adorned horses for decades being most popular in the Victorian Era. They were added as decoration to the bridle and/or the saddle of the horse for all sorts of celebrations including weddings, coronations, and very often at funerals.

According to Victorian funeral traditions: “a hearse and horses laden with ostrich plumes were indicative of a person’s wealth and often families hired extra horses and coaches festooned with plumes. In 1869, James H. Shanahan illustrated a variety of these ostrich plumes with removable tops in his Illustrated Catalogue of Undertakers Hardware and Trimmings. Poor people did not deserve plumes at all while two plumes meant that the deceased was of modest means while three to four meant that he or she was better off. If you could afford five or six plumes you were wealthy but having seven plumes was reserved for the truly rich.”

Ostrich Plumes are a sign of regal status. We found evidence that Napoleon Bonapartes’ team of six horses were ornamented with white plumes for his coronation.

Wind Chase Farm wants all of our clients to feel regal as well! Weather and event permitting our carriage horse(s) are beautifully adorned with ostrich plumes for Weddings, Birthday Celebrations, and Memorial services.  Its that extra service we put in our Gold Medal Services! When you want the best look no further! Our meticulously groomed horses and immaculately clean and polished carriages are sure to impress!

A Sensational September

This year the traditionally warm Florida September weather did not put a damper on Celebrations!

Our First event of the month was the Jensen Beach High School Homecoming Parade.  Bonnie and our wagonnette provided transportation for the 2016 Homecoming Court. The weather was perfect as we paraded down Jensen Beach Blvd.
